A Low-Cost Video-Laryngoscope

 

Laryngoscopes are used to pass tracheal intubation tubes by pushing the epiglottal curtain to the side. Cameras are sometimes used to help guide the caregiver. However, such video-laryngoscopes are expensive. To answer this need, I worked with a professor of anesthesiology from our University’s Medical School to develop a low-cost video laryngoscope (Figure 12). A USB endoscopy camera was integrated into the design.​
